Before delving into the issue, it is worth pointing out how much the Cloud is a trending topic and even more so in a complicated historical moment, dominated by the health emergency that does not allow travel, exchanges and relationships. Suffice it to say that Gartner predicts that the Cloud could grow by a further 6.3% compared to last year. And it is certainly not a surprise given that analysts predict Desktop as a service (i.e. a cloud computing solution that allows companies to deploy virtual desktops, hosted on the cloud, on any device and from anywhere) in very strong growth, with as much as +95.4%, while the largest slice will remain that of SaaS services which are expected to exceed $104 billion and then position themselves as high as $140 billion in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

MIGRATE MICROSOFT WORKLOADS TO AWS<\/b><\/p>\n

But let’s get back to how AWS works with thousands of organizations to migrate workloads such as applications, websites, databases, storage, physical or virtual servers, or entire data centers. In particular, however, we will look at how AWS offers the best cloud platform for Windows and is the ideal solution for running Windows-based applications today and in the future. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

WHY WINDOWS ON AWS<\/b><\/p>\n

First of all, AWS offers a very wide selection of services as well as numerous features compared to any other cloud provider. For one thing, AWS has 48 services and options that even the second-largest cloud provider can’t offer, including more extensive features for Windows. Amazon Web Service can provide the first and only fully managed Windows-native file system available in the cloud with FSX for Windows File Server and AWS Deep Learning AMI for Microsoft Windows Server, optimized for performance on EC2 instances running Intel\u00ae Xeon\u00ae Scalable processors.<\/span><\/p>\n

RELIABILITY AND SAFETY<\/b><\/p>\n

Industry-recognized infrastructure design and global reliability make AWS the best infrastructure for running critical enterprise workloads. There are 69 Availability Zones (AZs) in 22 regions, and the AWS Regions\/AZ model has been recognized by industry analysts as the recommended approach for running enterprise applications that require high availability. But there’s more: safety. There are 210 security, compliance, governance, and functionality services. <\/span><\/p>\n

A total of 89 security standards and compliance certifications are supported, including PCI DSS, HIPAA\/HITECH, FedRAMP, GDPR, FIPS 140-2, and NIST 800-171. When it comes to encryption, all AWS services that store customer data offer the ability to encrypt that data, providing encryption across 116 different AWS services.<\/span><\/p>\n

SPEED AND COST REDUCTION<\/b><\/p>\n

Speed and cost reduction are now a strength. In fact, AWS shows 2-3 times better performance using HammerDB, a benchmark tool similar to TPC-C, compared to the second largest cloud provider. ZK Research also points out that AWS has at least a two-fold price\/performance advantage when comparing the price of a workload, including storage, compute, and networking. <\/span><\/p>\n

When it comes to cost reduction, AWS helps customers save up to 90% on Windows compute costs with the most comprehensive family of EC2 instances. Finally, customers have the freedom to choose from a variety of available licensing options (e.g., using WS License Manager), including purchasing fully compliant licenses from AWS on a pay-as-you-go model or moving their eligible licenses to AWS.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
